Toronto, Ontario – We’ve still got three full days of Fringe left, but tonight we raised a glass to the triumphs thus far at our annual Awards Ceremony. Starting at 9pm in the Fringe Club (in the parking lot behind Honest Ed’s), Executive Director Kelly Straughan announced several awards, including the much anticipated Patron’s Pick, the 24 Hour Playwriting Contest winner, the Tosho Cutting-Edge Award and the Best of Fringe.
The 2015 Fringe Festival Patron’s Picks
The Patron’s Picks are calculated based on sales from each company’s first four performances. There is one winner selected from each of our fourteen main venues, and they all receive an additional performance slot on the final day of the festival. Tickets go on sale Friday July 10th at 12pm. The winner of the 24 Hour Playwriting Contest:

Third Place: Natalie Axon, Emergency Procedures
The reading of Late Night will take place 9:30pm Sunday July 12th at the Tarragon Solo Room. This year, 45 playwrights completed plays for the 24 Hour Playwriting Contest, working with four mandatory themes: an emergency plan, piracy, a Freudian slip and a fist fight.
The Tosho Cutting-Edge Award supported by Tosho Knife Arts
The winner of the 2015 audience choice award, the Tosho Cutting-Edge Award, is Waiting in Line by Honest Arts. The artists received a premium knife donated by Tosho Knife Arts, as well as an unlimited pass to the 2016 Next Stage Theatre Festival.
One lucky audience member who cast a vote for this award won a knife from Tosho Knife Arts, as well as an unlimited pass to the 2016 Next Stage Theatre Festival.

Outstanding new comedy award sponsored by Second City
New this year, the Second City is proud to sponsor the Outstanding New Comedy Award. Winners are chosen from Fringe 2015 shows and will receive $1000 and a chance to perform at the John Candy Box Theatre. Best of FringeKids! presented by Solar Stage
This year’s winners are Hamlet… A puppet Epic! and The Crazy Space Adventures of Princess Sparkly Butt & The Hot Dog Kid. Solar Stage will host a special weekend with featuring these new Canadian shows for kids in April & May, 2016.
Announcing the Paul O’Sullivan Prize for Musical Theatre Sponsored by the Pat and Tony Adams Freedom Fund for the Arts.
Announcing the new musical contest, officially called the Paul O’Sullivan Prize for Musical Theatre, which pays tribute to the late Paul O’Sullivan who was known and loved in the theatre community.
The contest opens in September 2015 with the winner being announced at the Fringe Lottery Party in November 2015. The prize includes a $3,500 cash prize and a spot in the 2016 Fringe Festival. More information on submission requirements will be posted on the website in August 2015.

Show venues: 29 locations around the Annex neighbourhood and the downtown core.
The Fringe Club is located in the parking lot behind Honest Ed’s (581 Bloor St. W., southwest corner of Bloor and Bathurst). The Fringe Club is the festival headquarters, with a box office, beer tent, great food, and free programming.
Performance schedule: Daily between 10:00am and midnight
Ticket Prices: $12 in advance, $10 at the door.
(FringeKids! performances for children 12 and under: $5 in advance and at the door)
CONTINUING THIS YEAR: 100% of tickets will be available online, over the phone, or at the Festival Box Office up to three hours before show time. Any unsold tickets will be available for purchase at individual venues.
