| Carolyn and Michel are a happily unmarried couple who enjoy the simple life and are looking forward to the birth of their first child. Her father is a prominent gynaecologist and her mother an ardent and successful hospital fundraiser, neither approve nor understand the choices their daughter has made. Carolyn has invited them to dinner for the first time in three years in the hopes that they can start anew. She is determined that nothing will go wrong and that her parents will see what a mature and capable adult she is. Of course everything does go wrong. When her labour pains start Carolyn's parents are sent into a tailspin.
