Ontario is the heartland of live, professional theatre, with a score of towns and cities hosting one or more professional playhouses, perhaps more live theatre in a hundred-mile radius than anywhere else on the planet. Stage Door is dedicated to serving all the professional and amateur theatres of Ontario with -

Originally (since 1995) dedicated to serving theatres in Southwestern Ontario, and then (since 2000) Toronto, we are in the process of growing to provide coverage to all of Ontario, so new and exciting changes are happening all the time!

Stage Door is dedicated to promoting attendance at live professional and quality amateur theatre in Ontario. Basic Stage Door services (all those listed above) are offered free to all theatre festivals and groups in Ontario, although we do beg a bit and donations from any source are always welcome! Enhanced listings and services are available at modest extra fees. Read our Terms of Use here. There is never a charge to Internet browsers for this service.

Independent

Stage Door is entirely independent of any theatre or artists' group, but works with all theatres to promote their product.

Reviews

Stage Door staff try to attend as many productions in the region as possible, and their reviews are the most frequently visited pages on the site. Theatres and other patrons are also invited to submit full reviews or short comments on individual productions, which are either added as Guest Reviews, or (for short comments) appended to Stage Door Reviews. Reviews and comments are only posted if received before the production closes.

In addition to providing a full Playbill and Contact information for each theatre, if that theatre has its own website Stage Door also provides a direct link there for more complete information. Stage Door also provides links to several other theatre-related websites in the international community.

Stage Door Awards

Recognizing the wealth of professional excellence in Southwestern Ontario, Stage Door presented annual Stage Door Awards, or "Johnnies," in 1996-1997. The awards have been suspended, not for lack of excellence but rather for lack of time to review a sufficient percentage of the offerings on the region's stages.
