The Bleecker Theatre Company presents Harold Pinter’s THE LOVER.

The Bleecker Theatre Company is proud to present Harold Pinter’s The Lover this March at the Giggleshorts Theatre. The Lover is the fifth production for The Bleecker Theatre Company and continues what has already been an outstanding showcase of artistic collaboration and imaginative story telling by the young company.

Set at the cusp of the sexual revolution in the early 1960’s, The Lover contrasts humdrum domesticity with fantasies of sexual yearning. The story explores where these fantasies may lead when one afternoon we meet a quaint English couple: a Husband, a Wife, and her Lover.

Director James Wallis is extremely excited about presenting The Lover to Toronto theatre-goers this March. He claims this little Pinter gem is one of those interesting and original stories packed with dynamic energy executed by actors Nola Martin and Kevin Walker.

Wallis says ‘To me, The Lover is ultimately a love story, but being Pinter he brings otherworldly realities to the forefront. The Bleecker Theatre Company is dedicated to staging work that inspires, excites and challenges audiences and I believe The Lover is another fine example of what the company has to offer Toronto’s independent theatre scene.’

Established in 2006 by James Wallis and Kevin Walker, The Bleecker Theatre Company has already had
extraordinary success from the get go. Past hits include Sam Shepard’s The Unseen Hand, and Finer Noble
Gases as part of last years’ SummerWorks Festival.

The Lover opens 8pm Friday, March 14th and runs every day through to March 29th.

PREVIOUS PAISE FOR BLEECKER
Some reviews of the Bleecker Theatre Company's production of Finer Noble Gases as part of last summers’ SummerWorks Feastival:

FROM EYE WEEKLY:
"A young theatre company that deserves recognition."
- Philip Brown

FROM NOW MAGAZINE:
One of the great things about SummerWorks is the spirit of experimentation...It’s there in Finer Noble Gases,
a bizarre piece by NYC playwright Adam Rapp that’s given an anarchic production by Kevin Walker and the
Bleecker Theatre Company. This show will make you feel that every play needs to end with a blowout rock number.' (NNNN)
