Neil Munro Withdraws as Director of An Inspector Calls PDF Print E-mail
Media Release #4 Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, March 13, 2008 . . . The Shaw Festival announced today that Associate Director Neil Munro has withdrawn from his role as director of the 2008 production of J.B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls, for health reasons. Veteran Shaw Festival director and actor Jim Mezon will now be directing the show, which begins rehearsals today. Mr. Munro sustained a major infection last fall, and though now in recovery, recently realized that he would not be well enough to direct An Inspector Calls. Shaw Festival Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell says, “We are of course hugely disappointed that Neil, who has immersed himself in preparation and planning for this project, will not be able to take it through to fruition. However, both Neil and I are relieved and grateful that Jim is able to continue Neil’s work while he focuses on returning to full health.” Jim Mezon has a 20-year association with the Shaw Festival as an actor and director, most recently directing the 2006 production of Bernard Shaw’s Too True To Be Good. The 2008 season is proudly presented by HSBC Bank Canada/HSBC Bank USA, N.A.  -30- Please visit our website at www.shawfest.com for other Shaw Festival media releases. For more information, or to download images from our image bank to accompany this release, members of the media may contact: Odette YazbeckPublic Relations Director905-468-2153 or1-800-657-1106 ext. 222 This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  Patti BroughtonPublic Relations Co-ordinator905-468-2153 or1-800-657-1106 ext. 224 This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
