The 50 Most Read Reviews of 2025
Thursday, January 1, 2026
In 2025 Stage Door received 143,147 pageviews from 63,361 unique visitors from 159 countries. Of the unique visitors 63% were from Canada, 20% from the US and 5% from the UK. These numbers exclude China and Singapore whose bots repeatedly scoured the site in 2025.
The company with the largest number of entries in the top 50 is the Stratford Festival with 12, followed by the Shaw Festival with 8 (counting Mahabharata as one). Counting a company each time it presented a show on its own or as a co-pro, Crow’s Theatre has 5 while Canadian Stage, Soulpepper and Talk Is Free Theatre tie at 3 each. Théâtre français de Toronto and The Musical Stage Company tie at 2 each. Of the 50 shows, 21 were presented in Toronto.
The review for & Juliet is important as the first review by new guest critic Alessandro Stracuzzi, a theatre critic from Italy now resident in Toronto. Alessandro has a diploma in acting from the Scuola di Teatro SDM, Milan, and an M.A. in History of Theatre from the University of Milan with special interests in emerging voices, cross-cultural perspectives and Canadian drama. We look forward to reading more of Alessandro’s reviews in the future.
Dates are given in parentheses for non-2025 reviews. — The Editor
