Mississauga: Theatre Erindale presents Aeschylus’ “The Oresteia” November 8-17

Thursday, October 31, 2019

Theatre Erindale’s Battlelines season continues with the first Studio Series show of the season, The Oresteia directed by Tyler J. Seguin.

Broken Loyalties, insatiable revenge and the search for justice: When war erupts between the parents of Orestes, a bloody, decades-long saga ensues. This story of betrayal and morality speaks as urgently today as it did in fifth-century Athens, demanding that audiences ask: is justice really ever served?

Seguin says: “The Oresteia is an epic story about a family’s decent into passion, violence and vengeance in a bloody struggle across generations. Written 2,500 years ago, Aeschylus’ powerful script asks uncomfortably contemporary questions about the nature of love and justice that still ring true today. This production puts the audience at the centre of the action and invites them to experience the story first-hand. With as many as seven shows being performed simultaneously throughout the theatre, this audacious company takes the audience deep into the heart of the story. Full of powerful performances and stunning images, The Oresteia is Greek Tragedy like you’ve never experienced it.”
