Hairspray – The Musical, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is coming to the stage at Theatre Aquarius as this year’s Holiday Family Musical!  A family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs, Hairspray – The Musical is a sweet delight sure to please audiences of all ages.

It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do!

Hairspray – The Musical is written by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, with Orchestrations by Harold Wheeler and Arrangements by Marc Shaiman 

The show is Directed by Mary Francis Moore, Choreographed by Robin Calvert, with Music Direction by Reza Jacobs. The Set Design and Costume Consultation is by Patrick Clark, Lighting Design by Gail Ksionzyk and Sound Design by Anna-Maria Grant. 

The show stars Saphire Demitro as Tracy and Patrick Brown as Edna.

Hairspray – The Musical will run from Nov 27 – Dec 24, 2019, with performances Tuesdays – Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30pm.  Some performances are already sold out. Opening Night is Nov 29 at 7:30pm.
