Toronto: “Come From Away” holds an East Coast style kitchen party to support the Daily Bread Food Bank December 7

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

In September 2001, the 7,000 citizens of Gander, NL, and its surrounding towns welcomed, housed and fed 7,000 citizens of the world who were stranded when airspace closed following the tragic events of 9/11.

Since 1983 Daily Bread Food Bank has been providing emergency food support to thousands of families and individuals in need across the city of Toronto.  Last year alone they distributed close to 11 million pounds of food through their network of member agencies.

Just in time for this season of giving, COME FROM AWAY will join Daily Bread Food Bank to help raise awareness of the need for food security for all Torontonians, and to help raise food and funds to keep the food bank going at a time when the need seems to be greater than ever before.

On Saturday December 7 at 2PM, the cast and musicians of COME FROM AWAY will visit Daily Bread Food Bank’s 108,000-sq.-ft. distribution warehouse for a holiday open house, “kitchen party” and mini-concert.

This special one-time-only fundraising event will be open to the public. Admission will be by donation (minimum $100). For this amount, participants will receive:

- An East Coast style “kitchen party” with the cast and musicians of COME FROM AWAY – with songs from the show and other seasonal favourites in the Daily Bread Food Bank’s hub (191 New Toronto Street);

- One ticket to attend an invitation-only dress rehearsal of COME FROM AWAY when it returns to its original home at the Royal Alexandra Theatre on Friday, December 13 at 2 PM:

- Snacks and beverages in the Daily Bread Food Bank’s kitchen and a tour of the remarkable new warehouse;
