Muskoka: Dot The T Productions tours “The Ladies Foursome” to country clubs in and around Muskoka

Wednesday, April 10, 2019

Dot The T Productions, Muskoka’s Theatre Company, is excited to announce its spring production, Norm Foster’s hilarious comedy, “The Ladies Foursome”. And true to Dot The T’s innovative mandate – to bring theatre to the people – they have teamed up with 10 golf and country clubs in and around Muskoka with a Golf-Dine-Theatre event. For golfers, there is a shotgun scramble of nine holes, then back to the club house for dinner (or lunch) and finally a great abs workout (from laughing) with the full-stage professional performance of “The Ladies Foursome”.

Directed by Jeff Braunstein, who has, over the past 45 years, worked extensively in Theatre, Television and Film, this show features three women who gather for a game of golf in honour of their recently deceased playing partner. It is the day after the funeral and they are joined by a 4th woman, another old friend of thedeceased that the other three had no knowledge of. During the round, the women discuss life, love, men, sex, children, careers...everything but golf. Many surprises, secrets and confessions come to the surface during this hilarious and heart-warming round of golf.

“Performing this show in the intimate setting of a golf club dining room is perfect,” says producer Jan Jacklin. “Topping off a game of golf with dinner or lunch and then sitting back to enjoy the talents of our local professional cast is sure to be a hit with golfers along with those who prefer just a dinner or lunch/show option,” adds Jacklin.

Four of Muskoka’s top actors will take the stage: Robin Clipsham, actor, director, writer, theatre educator and performer of the wonderful character Peaches; Maja Ardal, known best for her 7 seasons with CBC/Disney’s “Road to Avonlea” playing Mrs. Potts; Jane Hunt, Dora Award nominee in her role as Lucy in “You’re a GoodMan Charlie Brown”; and Alyssa LaPlume, whose roles in multiple award-winning short films, theatre productions and the Fringe Festival is a graduate of Canadore College’s Theatre Program.

In the pivotal role of Stage Manager is Huntsville’s Michele Schwemmer, who has worked with such notable actors as Michael York, Stanley Tucci, Danny DeVito, Bridget Fonda and Lindsay Wagner. Full bios of the cast and crew can be found on Dot The T’s website under “About Us”.

Between May 25 and June 8, audiences have their choice of golf and country club depending on location, menu or date. Although there will be 10 stops on the tour, 6 have been confirmed, with tickets on sale now: May 25 North Granite Ridge (Chicken & Ribs Buffet Dinner) in Port Sydney; May 26 Mark O’Meara’s Grandview (Roast Chicken Buffet Dinner) in Huntsville; May 31 Deerhurst Resort (Lunch-Matinee); June 4 Windermere Golf & Country Club (Prime Rib Buffet Dinner) in Muskoka Lakes; June 5 RIDGE AT MANITOR in McKellar; and June 6 at Muskoka Highlands (Lasagna Buffet Dinner) in Bracebridge.
