Saturday, April 20, 2019

The Garden City Comedy Festival Gala Night returns to theFirstOntario Performing Arts Centre for an evening of world class laughs.

Headlining this year’s Gala will be award winning entertainer DeAnne Smith.

DEANNE SMITH: A Canadian Comedy Award winner, DeAnne has performed at Just for Laughs, JFL42, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the Iceland Comedy Festival to name a few. She’s also been on TV all over the world, including on Last Comic Standing and The Late Late Show in the U.S., as well as in Canada, Australia and the UK. Her video “Straight Men, Step Your Game Up” has over 46 million views and her comedy special "Gentleman Elf" is now streaming on Netflix.

JEFF LEESON: Jeff Leeson has been described as a "one of a kind performer". His off the cuff, improvisational, electrifying style leaves crowds not only wanting more, but stunned at what they just witnessed. While a lot of comics work to home and craft an act that they can deliver verbatim to audiences night after night, Jeff creates a brand new show every time based solely on the audience in front of him.

HUNTER COLLINS: Originally from Montreal, Hunter has graced the stage at JFL42, The Halifax Comedy Festival and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He recently hosted the 18th annual Canadian Comedy Awards and his latest comedy album “Nincom2oop” debuted at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts.

LEONARD CHAN: Leonard Chan has been heard on CBC's The Debaters and Sirius/XM Radio, published on CBC Comedy, and seen on stage at JFL 42 and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. He also has two degrees in engineering, which he now only uses as punchlines.

Hosted by Niagara's own MARK MATTHEWS: A veteran of the Canadian comedy circuit Mark headlines at clubs and private corporate events across North America. “Fast and funny as hell” with a comeback, Mark has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Gilbert Gottfried, and Jimmy "JJ" Walker to name just a few.
