Inspired by the film noir genre, The Silent Goodbye follows a rough and cynical gumshoe, Private Investigator Emmett Humphreys as he solves the murder of a club owner. This rough and cynical gumshoe uncovers dangerous truths surrounding a Chicago speakeasy. Meet a new cast of characters in a new and original script with jazz, burlesque, and suspense.

The Silent Goodbye was written and directed by Kate Knox, assistant directed by Dana Thody and choreographed by Kate Knox and Adam Martino.

Audiences will be dazzled and captivated as dancers dressed in vintage costume surround the performance space, performing unique and original choreography from the film noir era, as the key characters weave through the original and mysterious plot. Meanwhile some of Toronto’s talented and sexiest burlesque performers.   

High Society Cabaret is an independent Toronto-based dance theatre company founded by Artistic Director Anna Jaeger, and operated with Co-Artistic Director Kate Knox.  It is inspired by classic vintage aesthetics ranging from the baroque period to the swinging sixties, combining elements of the burlesque tease with cabaret style dance. The only vintage cabaret of its kind in Toronto, High Society Cabaret aims to provide top tier entertainment, boasting highly trained and professional dancers as well as established performers from Toronto’s sizzling burlesque community.

High Society Cabaret shows are designed to stimulate the senses from every angle. The dancers move through the crowd, selecting guests to participate in the action on stage, creating an interactive and inclusive atmosphere. Now in its sixth season, High Society Cabaret is becoming one of the household names of cabaret entertainment in the city.
