Toronto: Nightwood’s 10th annual Lawyer Show raises record-breaking funds

Tuesday, June 11, 2019

We are still basking in the glow after witnessing over 40 lawyers give it their all and blow the roof off of the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in Nightwood's fundraiser production of MAMMA MIA! this weekend. It's a good thing lawyers are notoriously high-achievers, because they poured their hearts and souls into perfecting their harmonies, memorizing their lines and nailing their dance moves all while working their demanding full-time jobs and the result was an incredibly fun night out at the theatre.

Thanks to this team of talented lawyers, our wonderful show sponsors, advertisers, silent auction donors, and incredible audiences, this milestone 10th anniversary Lawyer Show surpassed our previous fundraising efforts, grossing a whopping $185,500 for Nightwood Theatre's future programming and productions. We can't thank everyone enough for your support and generosity as we enter our 40th Season as Canada's flagship feminist theatre.

“For a few months each year the women at Nightwood take a group of hard-working, analytic, often stressed-out lawyers who have careers that dictate they live most waking hours in their heads, and they teach us to live in our hearts… I have left the experience with a new passion for my life in general and inspired to make other positive choices. In short, for a few months each year, Nightwood gives us a little magic.” - Christine Marchetti, past cast member of The Lawyer Show
