Kenora: TrypTych Concert & Opera will stage “H.M.S. Parliament” November 20-22

Tuesday, September 3, 2019

From November 20 through November 22 at 7pm, TrypTych Concert & Opera will stage H.M.S. Parliament: The Lady who Loved a Government Clerk. In 1880 Canadian William Henry Fuller wrote a new libretto for Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore to satirize the Canadian federal government. It was a huge hit in its day and audiences in Kenora will have the rare opportunity to see a fully staged, professional production of this delightful work.

The stage director is Edward Franko and the music director is Lenard Whiting, who will conduct a chamber orchestra from Winnipeg.

Performances take place at the Seven Generations Education Institute. Tickets are $25 and are available at Johnson’s Pharmacy.

As a fundraiser for H.M.S. Parliament, TrypTych presents Under the Autumn Sky, a collection of opera, operetta, music theatre and instrumental favourites.

The performers include Carrie Hall, soprano; Erika Rasmussen, mezzo-soprano; Lenard Whiting, tenor; Edward Franko, tenor; Ruth Girard, piano; Norman Reintamm, piano and organ; and Julie Husband, flute.

The performance will take place at St. Alban’s Sanctuary at 7pm on September 27, 2019. Tickets are $30 and are available at Johnson’s Pharmacy and at St. Alban’s Office.

TrypTych thanks Kenora Hospitality Alliance, Kenora and Lake of the Woods Community Foundation and Kenora Development Commission for their support.
