Collingwood: Tom Allen’s “The Missing Pages” goes online November 13-15
Thursday, October 29, 2020
In November we will be heading into uncharted territory for Theatre Collingwood, as we will be presenting our first ONLINE show, THE MISSING PAGES! This production was to be enjoyed live in Collingwood this fall but due to the pandemic we are going to go another route. Tom Allen is a radio host on CBC radio, resident artist at Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto, he is a wonderfully talented musician, and he is a writer of beautiful Canadiana books (The Gift of the Game & Rolling Home). Tom has had The Missing Pages professionally filmed and all who purchase the link are in for a treat. Here is what it is about:
On December 16, 1825 Theodor Molt became the sole Canadian to meet Ludwig van Beethoven, but what could have happened between the two men? After Molt’s florid greeting in one of Beethoven’s notebooks, the following four pages were violently ripped out and destroyed. Betrayal? Competition? Scandal? Or just old fashioned ego and pride? With music, song, drama, history and informed speculation, The Missing Pages investigates.
We are thrilled with the level of talent in this show, including the brilliant soprano Patricia O'Callaghan and Canadian actor/director Derek Boyes. This production is a wonderful display of history, fiction, storytelling and musical talent. I would like to thank The New Classical 102.9FM for coming on board as our radio sponsor for this show.
If you are new to streaming shows, or have not been impressed in the past with the quality, please consider giving this another try. Tom Strnad from Mountain Goat Film is helping us with our streaming of this production and as I said, the quality of the filming is top notch. It is an easy process for you. You can buy a "ticket" either online HERE or by calling our office at 705-445-2200. Then the day before the show we will send you a link to watch the show. The link will be good from 7pm on Friday, November 13th to 7am on Sunday, November 15th. All you have to do is make the popcorn and enjoy the show from the comfort of your home! The cost of the link is $25 plus HST and that will enable your whole household/bubble to enjoy the show.
The truth is you may say "well I can watch things for free online, why buy a link?" That is true and we encourage you to watch free content online (and we have supplied many free links) but the reality is that we cannot present live shows right now. I look forward to when we can. In the meantime, by purchasing a link you are supporting Theatre Collingwood, many Canadian artists, and the theatre artform. We all need your help and support right now. So please buy a link, encourage your friends to buy a link, and maybe even buy links as gifts for other people. We thank you for your support and hope you enjoy the show!
