Picture it: A crew of ne'er-do-wells sets off to found a city where everyone is free to do as they please. Vice and iniquity rule the streets of Mahagonny and soon the word spreads and the population booms. 

But the sun sets on all good things and excess leads to tragedy. It all comes to a head when a crew of lumberjacks show up in the midst of a financial crisis for the city. There's whisky, women, and even a hurricane: all great ingredients for a work such as this.

THE RISE AND FALL OF THE CITY OF MAHAGONNY by Kurt Weill with a libretto by his genius partner, Bertolt Brecht recently celebrated its 90th anniversary. Here are some great archival scenes from our 2019 production.
