Niagara-on-the-Lake: The Shaw Festival extends its suspension of performances through May 25

Friday, March 27, 2020

Based on the Public Health Agency of Canada’s statement regarding mass gatherings, the Shaw Festival has decided to cancel all public events and performances through May 25 (you may have just seen this on our social media accounts). We will continue to monitor the situation to see if additional cancellations are required based on the direction and guidance of the provincial and federal governments along with the public health units of Niagara, the province and the country.

Until we can be back on stage, we are keeping our art alive and sharing as much as we can on Instagram and Facebook. It has certainly been inspiring to see how our artists have found ways to continue to create together despite physical distance.

In a bit of good news, we recently told our company members that Kate Hennig is now the Shaw Festival’s Director of Artistic Development and Kimberley Rampersad is stepping into the role of Associate Artistic Director. We will do a more formal announcement at a time when can all celebrate together.
