Toronto: Native Earth Performing Arts cancels shows in April and May

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

As a precautionary response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Native Earth and Aki Studio will be suspending the rest of our 2019/2020 season. This is not an easy decision to make, but we recognize it is vital to ensure the safety of our artists, staff, and audience members. Native Earth is taking direction from Public Health of Canada, Ontario Health, and Toronto Public Health as we move forward.

The following productions and presentations will be impacted and cancelled:

  • Omaagomaan, April 2 – 5

  • Mission Songs Project, April 6

  • Maggie & Me: A Healing Dance, April 16 – 19

  • Sir John A, April 26 – May 10

For patrons who have purchased tickets for any of the listed above shows:

  • If it is within your capacity, please consider donating the value of your ticket. These donations will help support Native Earth during these uncertain times.

  • If you would like a refund for your ticket purchase, please email alex@nativeearth.ca. Please note that this will take some time as we work through ticket orders.

The Daniels Spectrum building is closed, and therefore our office and theatre is also closed to the public until April 6th. Staff members will be working remotely or for limited hours within the space. All communications will be moved online or over the phone. We will be continuing to closely monitor the situation and will act accordingly.

Our thoughts go out to everyone who is affected by the global spread of COVID-19. We understand that this is a time of uncertainty and fear. We will do our best to adhere to the 7 traditional principles, Generosity, Courage, Tolerance, Humility, Patience, Strength of Character, and Wisdom as we move through this.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Please take care of yourself and be kind to others. We hope to see you in Aki Studio in the near future.
