Toronto: Soulpepper presents “fresh ink online” April 3

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

Fresh Ink is an opportunity for artists and audiences to share new work, the life blood of the theatre. This series is a chance to discover what our theatre makers are up to, what they’re thinking and dreaming about. It’s a chance for adventurous audiences and artists to come together to share in the creative process.

“This event has been something I’ve wanted to do since I first arrived at Soulpepper. Emma and I wanted to find a way to give a space for Toronto theatre makers to experiment and take risks in front of a live audience. Theatre is thrilling when it is made in dialogue between artists and audiences. We hope that Fresh Ink will be fertile ground for the creation of great new work,” said Weyni Mengesha, Artistic Director.

The very freshest work from some of Toronto’s most exciting playwrights! Pour yourself a drink and join Haley McGee (Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale; I'm Doing This for You)Jordan Tannahill (Draw Me Close; Concord Floral), and Ngozi Paul (The Emancipation of Ms. Lovely) read excerpts from their newest work. The event will be hosted by Weyni Mengesha, Frank Cox-O’Connell and Guillermo Verdecchia over Zoom. We hope you can join us as we try this new digital initiative!

Just because we're now in a time of physical distancing, it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate the life blood of the theatre. Just as Fresh Ink was intended to be, artists and audiences can come together and share in the creative process, except online.
