Stratford: Stratford Festival holds a “Coriolanus” viewing party on April 30

Wednesday, April 29, 2020

First, a thank-you to all of you who wrote with kind words and uplifting messages as we were forced to put our 2020 season on hold. It means the world to us to hear from you.

Soon we’ll be together in the theatre once more, but in the meantime, it’s been fun connecting with you virtually through our film series. So let’s get back to that, shall we?

A rare interview with Robert Lepage as part of this week’s Viewing Party

World-renowned director Robert Lepage will be joining us for the Preshow on Thursday at 6:30 PM EDT, as part of the Live Viewing Party for his 2018 production of Coriolanus. In this rare interview he’ll be chatting with Artistic Director Antoni Cimolino and leading actor André Sills. You won’t want to miss it!

Antoni interviews James Shapiro about his article in The New Yorker

On Friday, May 1, Antoni has another fascinating interview lined up for you as well: James Shapiro, the Shakespeare scholar and Columbia University prof who wrote about Coriolanus in The New Yorker this month – “The Shakespeare Play That Presaged the Trump Administration’s Response to the Coronavirus Pandemic.” James’s new book, Shakespeare in a Divided America, is a must read!

And Antoni spoke to Robert Lepage earlier this week, director to director, about directing Coriolanus, something they have both done to great effect.
