Toronto: Théâtre français de Toronto launches Acte II: Le «TfT Connecté»

Tuesday, April 14, 2020

Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT) intends to stay "connected" to its community by offering an innovative and continuous online presence. For this “Act II” of its 2019/2020 season, TfT is changing the backdrop and as of today, will offer cultural activities and artistic events accessible to everyone online. This new programming is made available free of charge and we hope reaches Francophone and Francophile audiences in Toronto and around Canada.

FOR GENERAL AUDIENCES

LES ZUTOPIES SOLITAIRES - WRITING WORKSHOPS:

In the third week of April, we are launching a writing workshop / competition open to everyone: Les Zutopies Solitaires, modeled on the Zinspiré.e.scompetition. For three weeks, testimonials will be given by playwrights Caroline Bélisle, Pierre Simpson and Gilles Poulin-Denis via Facebook Live to invite the public to get started or improve their experience of dramatic writing. At the end of these three interviews, participants will be invited to submit texts, nine of whom will be selected to be "coached" by the playwrights. From these, five texts will be selected for readings (by professional actors) on Facebook in mid-June.

ENTREVUES CONFINÉES (INTERVIEWS IN ISOLATION)

Each week, the TfT will present a video interview that reveals the “new” daily life of an artist during this period of isolation. Lighter in tone, these exchanges will help us to discover the common points that unite us as well as the distinctive issues and challenges faced by individuals.

FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES AND THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY

SHOW: LES MOTS SECRETS

Following Michel Ouellette’s Dire de Di presented on Facebook Live on Friday, April 10, Triangle Vital’s children's show Les Mots secrets directed by André Perrier will now be offered online through our video broadcasting platforms (YouTube and Facebook). This cancelled TfT and Alliance Française de Toronto co-presentation will reach new audiences. Every week, the public will be able to hear the sublime words of the poet Louise Dupré and discover the budding friendship of two young people immersed in correspondence by letter. For ages 7 to 12.

ACTING CLASSES

On Saturday mornings, kids can join Vincent Leblanc-Baudoin and Eudes La Roche-Francoeur for theatre classes on TfT’s Facebook page. The courses will be broadcast every Saturday until June 20 as follows:

• 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for ages 4 to 9

• 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for ages 10 to 14

LES HEURES DU CONTE (STORY TIME IN FRENCH) :

In partnership with the Francophone daycare Le Petit Chaperon Rouge, TfT will offer a themed story time every week on its video broadcasting platforms. Designed especially for younger children, these presentations will be read and acted out by professional actors:

• 20 to 30 minutes for ages 5 to 8

Until we can welcome you back to the theatre in person, TfT is happy to be able to continue its mission and offer cultural activities in French accessible to everyone and everywhere. These activities allow us to bring the very essence of theatre to the Web so that we can continue to entertain, share, learn and discover together.
