Toronto: Soundstreams cancels its 2020/21 season

Friday, May 29, 2020

While we all continue to adapt to the shifting world around us, we’d like to take a moment to thank our amazing Soundstreams family for your patience. Whether you’ve donated, engaged with our social media composer content, or simply left us kind words of support, the entire staff is truly appreciative.

Before COVID-19 made its presence known, we presented an exciting and ambitious 2020/21 season. The changing nature of the regulations around the pandemic in this city makes it impossible to say with certainty whether any of these concerts can continue – there are simply too many shifting factors to consider, not least of which is keeping the health and safety of artists and audiences top of mind.

For this reason, until further notice, Soundstreams’ 2020/21 season has been put on hold. Subscription packages will no longer be sold.

We’d like to remind you, however, that it’s darkest before the dawn.

In the next few weeks, we will also be announcing a new, specialized program to stay involved and engaged with Soundstreams throughout the coming months and year.

We have been busy working behind the scenes to create a roadmap for deciding on future shows. As soon as our health officials give the go-ahead, we will be back with programming that not only brings you the quality and engagement that you’ve come to expect over the last 38 years, but it will also be presented with the greatest concern for your safety and well-being.

We’ve brought you digital options for our concerts in the past, and going forward, we will be leading with a “digital-first, in-person later” strategy to bring you the best content our funders, including your past donations, will allow us to produce.

Thank you once again for all your patience, and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next at Soundstreams. Stay tuned!
