Gananoque: Thousand Islands Playhouse cancels its entire 2020 season
Friday, June 5, 2020
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the suspension of our 2020 season, including all 8 mainstage productions, the Studio ‘S’ series, our Young Company tour, and our annual fundraiser A Moonlit Night. The Thousand Islands Playhouse remains committed to the safety and well-being of our audiences, artists, employees, and volunteers, and due to the ongoing uncertainty and concern of COVID-19, we cannot in good conscience gather with you here this summer.
Ticket holders and subscribers to our 2020 theatre and Studio ‘S’ season have been contacted directly with options on how to make arrangements, and can also find information here.
We are sorry to the staff and artists that were expecting to make plays here this summer and to all of you in our audience for whom this place is such an important part of your summer lives. As we know you will miss being here together this summer, we will miss all of you. Without you, the company doesn’t exist.
Thank you to all of the supporters who have graciously donated the value of their cancelled tickets to the Playhouse. It is generous gifts such as these that help us guarantee a bright future for the company. If you are currently a ticket holder to our 2020 season, please consider donating the value of your tickets to the Playhouse so we may keep theatre alive in the region.
We have begun to work on alternate plans to bring art to the region this summer and, because we can’t make theatre in our venues this year, we will be partnering with other essential services in our community to help in the fight against COVID-19.
We thank you for your understanding and continued support. Be well, stay safe, and we hope to see you soon.
