Revisit some of the greatest performances by the incomparable Christopher Plummer in Cineplex theatres this summer.
The Tempest returns to selected Cineplex locations on July 31. Described by the Toronto Star as “the show that most of us have been waiting to see at the Stratford Festival for many years,” this 2010 production features Christopher Plummeras a “commanding, imperial and mercurial” Prospero (National Post), in a performance that “taps into some enchanted well of poetry deep within” (Globe and Mail). Directed by Des McAnuff, it delivers “some of the most technically impressive magic ever seen on the Festival Theatre stage” (Globe and Mail). “Seeing the deliciously entertaining use Plummer makes of Shakespeare’s text, up close, in high-def, is a treat” (Montreal Gazette).
Christopher Plummer returns to Cineplex on August 14 with Caesar and Cleopatra, by George Bernard Shaw. He stars with Nikki M. James – “robust and full of spitfire” (Associated Press) – the brilliant young actor who went on to win a Tony Award for The Book of Mormon. “If you’ve been waiting for a perfect combination of high art and high entertainment, then wait no longer” (Toronto Star). This “Shaw comedy with HBO flash” (Globe and Mail) “crackles with energy from its first moment,” with “Plummer earning a laugh with every witty line Shaw has given him” (Variety).
