Toronto: The Royal Conservatory of Music outlines safety protocols for its indoor concerts

Tuesday, September 15, 2020

Yes, the concert season has begun and we are presenting livein-person concerts! We are so excited to welcome people back to enjoy live music in our beautiful venues.

Of course, we are adhering to all health and safety regulations and recommendations. Therefore, we currently have a 50-person capacity for our concerts, until government regulations allow more. If you have tickets to an upcoming concert already, do not worry, we will contact you by email or telephone, to discuss your options and make your preferred arrangements, if there are changes to your concert.

There are some new procedures this season that we wanted to ensure you are fully informed of. Here is what will happen at all of our upcoming concerts:

• Physical distancing everywhere in the building, including concert halls

• Mandatory masks everywhere in the building, including during concerts

• Mandatory temperature checks for everyone before entering the building

• A waiver and a health questionnaire must be completed by all visitors before entering the building

• The box office has plexiglass barriers and will be open 3 hours before each concert for purchases and ticket pick up

• Attendees are asked to arrive 30-45 minutes before the concert to allow comfortable time for procedures to be followed

• Seating will be facilitated at the discretion of our ushers to ensure safe distancing

• Washrooms will be available before and after performances

• No intermissions, to minimize gatherings and lines

• No food and beverage services

• No merchandise tables

• All ticket holders will receive a "What to Expect" email with more details, before each concert you attend

Staff are trained to support you, ensure your safety, and help you navigate the new procedures.

Yes, the concerts will feel a little different. We are doing everything we can to bring you live music, safely and responsibly. We deeply appreciate your ongoing support as we adapt and move forward.
