EXPLORING THE DIGITAL NEEDS OF NIAGARA’S ARTS COMMUNITY will virtually convene arts organizations, local artists and changemakers to explore their needs in the digital future between Tues 26 Jan - Thurs 28 Jan + Thurs 4 Feb - Sat 6 Feb 2021. 

This past fall, the FirstOntario PAC engaged Senior Project Advisor Dr. Sara Diamond and Project Advisor Shannon Kitchings to assist in the planning of a local digital summit. The project team first crafted a survey for the Niagara arts community to learn of their challenges and curiosities in the digital landscape. The team then reflected on the 22 organizational responses and 57 individual artist responses to shape a series of case studies, workshops and sharing opportunities for a virtual gathering. 

"In a time when our doors have been ordered closed and our industry continues to suffer, we remain committed to fulfilling our community mandate as best as possible,” said Colleen Smith, Executive Director. "This summit aims to support and convene our local artists and arts organizations with hopes to inspire new, collaborative and sustainable ways forward."

EXPLORING THE DIGITAL NEEDS OF NIAGARA’S ARTS COMMUNITY  is a critical first step to provide Niagara artists and leaders of local arts organizations with a facilitated opportunity to explore how digital technologies can support the creation and dissemination of their work and to provide input into a larger planning exercise that charts PAC’s leadership into the digital future. The FirstOntario PAC intends to utilize the critical groundwork of this consultation process to inform Stage Two program planning with the community.
