St. Catharines: The Foster Festival will not use the FirstOntario PAC for its 2021 season

Thursday, March 11, 2021

On behalf of everyone at The Foster Festival, we wish to offer our most sincere appreciation to our ticket holders, our subscribers and everyone who has navigated these uncharted times with us. Thank you.

Out of an abundance of caution and care for all of our patrons, we have made the difficult decision that we will not be returning to the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre this summer. However, we are committed to continuing to produce Norm Foster’s work through online readings or smaller performances in outdoor venues during the summer months.

“Like so many of our fellow theatre organizations, we have to think about the safety of our artists, crew, staff and audiences at this time. Gathering in large numbers still poses a big question mark for all of us,” says Emily Oriold, Artistic Producer. “It’s the question of walking back into a theatre with confidence where audience members can sit side by side openly sharing in the laughter and artists can feel safe on our stages. With widespread vaccinations on the horizon, it is our greatest hope that we will be able to gather again in the theatre in time for the Holidays.”

Stay tuned for more exciting announcements about our 2021 programming. Since the shutdown in March 2020, Norm Foster has written 5 new plays and we are definitely looking forward to sharing them with you in 2021!
