Toronto: Jamie Allan’s “Illusionarium” offers a free virtual magic show for Mother’s Day weekend

Tuesday, May 4, 2021

While the team at Jamie Allan’s ILLUSIONARIUM can’t entertain audiences in person just yet, they wanted to do something special to celebrate the most magical people of all – MOMS – and so they’ve conjured up a free virtual magic show for this coming Mother’s Day weekend.  Enjoy the show with Mom or give her some time to herself while the kids are entertained!

This special Mother’s Day virtual magic show has been pre-recorded so families can enjoy it anytime they like this coming weekend. Hosted by the amazing magicians from Jamie Allan’s ILLUSIONARIUM, this free bonus event will offer 20-minutes of exclusive pre-recorded tricks and illusions. Get ready to be amazed and entertained from the comfort of your own home as ILLUSIONARIUM’s masters of sleight of hand, illusion, and mentalism pull from their personal repertoires and share tricks you won’t find in the exhibit itself.

Throughout the lockdown our amazing house magicians have continued to practice their craft and play with new tricks -- they can’t wait until we can safely welcome visitors to the exhibit in person,” says Lighthouse Immersive producer Corey Ross. “Magic is such an incredible thing to enjoy with family – it allows you to share moments of real wonder. Mother’s Day weekend seemed like the perfect time to offer another free virtual event that will hopefully add a little amazement and fun to this second Mother’s Day in lockdown.”

These special Mother’s Day Weekend shows will be FREE non-ticketed events. Hosted at Illusionarium.ca – the virtual show will be available to stream anytime from 10:00am on Friday, May 7th to 6:00pm on Sunday, May 9th.

Lighthouse Immersive, producers of the innovative Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit (North America’s first immersive art installation) first announced the opening of Jamie Allan’s ILLUSIONARIUM this past November with the hopes of opening the doors of the world premiere exhibit for the holidays.  The exhibit is now hoping to open on May 21st, pending health and safety guidelines from the province.

Conceived by British high-tech magician Jamie Allan (iMagician), ILLUSIONARIUM is a labyrinth of magical rooms transporting audiences to different eras in time. This experiential exhibit takes you on an immersive journey through the evolution of magic as the world’s most famous illusionists, including magic icons Penn & Teller, share their deepest secrets.

Using 3D projections, life-like holograms and live magicians, ILLUSIONARIUM offers the chance to experience some of the greatest, grand-scale illusions in the world within a physically distanced setting.  The first-of-its-kind installation will occupy the third gallery space in the historic Toronto Star printing presses and run alongside IMMERSIVE VAN GOGH and GOGH BY CAR, filling the complex with awe-inspiring immersive experiences that appeal to all ages and tastes. Tickets for Jamie Allan’s ILLUSIONARIUM are on sale now at illusionarium.ca.

Upon entering ILLUSIONARIUM, visitors are welcomed by renowned illusionists, starting with Harry Houdini and Robert Houdin. Giving audiences a peek behind the curtain, these famous magicians share the essence and fundamentals of magic. The sequence of rooms – PALAIS ROYALE, THE EGYTPTIAN HALL, ON-AIR STUDIOS, and EVO-LUSION HALL - connect via passageways displaying magic artwork and historical artifacts evocative of the time and place in history each room portrays – fully immersing you in the culture and soul of the era.

To maintain visitor safety, guests will be in physically distanced groupings, with a limit of four per Magic Circle, and a maximum of twelve Magic Circles in a room. As with IMMERSIVE VAN GOGH, masks will be required at all times.

Tickets for ILLUSIONARIUM will begin at $99 per couple, VIP options and add-ons are also available.
