Toronto: The Musical Stage Company presents “UNCOVERED 2021: The Music of Dolly Parton”

Thursday, September 2, 2021

As they wind down an extraordinary summer of outdoor performances and inventive musical programming that brought live musical experiences back to over 6000 Torontonians, The Musical Stage Company today announces a venue and format change for their annual signature fall UNCOVERED concert series. In addition, the company unveils another stunning line-up of performers for the 15th edition of the beloved program and vaccination mandates for patrons.

While the previously announced UNCOVERED 2021: The Music of Dolly Parton, was originally planned as a live drive-in experience at City View Drive-In, the reopening of indoor spaces and increasing regularity of vaccine mandates has given the company the opportunity to re-examine how to share UNCOVERED in a way that will best support the artistic integrity that defines the series.

As such, UNCOVERED 2021 will run live September 30th – October 2nd at its long-time home venue, the inimitable Koerner Hall. UNCOVERED 2021 live at Koerner Hall, will welcome small socially distanced audiences of 250 guests per performance. The live concert experience will also be filmed, capturing the breathtaking grandeur of Koerner Hall, and presented digitally alongside special live performances to patrons from November 24nd – December 11th. From the safety and comfort of their own home, patrons will experience a masterfully filmed concert, offering an up-close, personal view with behind-the-scenes content as well as bonus performances created live for a digital viewing audience.

In 2021, the characteristically illustrious line-up of UNCOVERED performers includes Jully Black, Beau Dixon, Sara Farb, Hailey Gillis, Kelly Holiff, and Andrew Penner, collaborating with music director Reza Jacobs on his wildly inventive and theatrical arrangements of Dolly Parton’s beloved classics. Reza Jacobs also leads the incredible band, with Justin Gray on drums and percussion.

“Bringing musical programming to Torontonians outdoors this summer – after such a long period of not being able to greet audiences in person - has been a truly extraordinary experience.  The summer of 2021 will be one I’ll honestly never forget,” comments Mitchell Marcus, Musical Stage Company Chief Executive Officer. While there is something magical about live performance in the open-air, Koerner Hall has always been home to UNCOVERED, offering unparalleled sound and sense of occasion.  It is very meaningful to us to welcome our patrons back to Koerner Hall and back indoors.  The venue also enables us to create a visually thrilling filmed version of the concert that can be enjoyed at home, which allows us to share UnCovered with as many people as possible.”

While Koerner Hall’s full capacity is 1135, the UNCOVERED concerts will welcome 200 patrons per evening with households separated by physical distance. Mask wearing continues to be mandatory and following increasing public interest in vaccine mandates for live events, audiences will be required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

Tickets for both UnCovered: The Music of Dolly Parton live at Koerner Hall and the digital at-home experience, go on-sale today.  Tickets for the live performances will begin at $45.00 with tickets for the digital experience available from $29.00.
