Kingston: The Theatre Kingston Storefront Fringe Lottery is now open

Thursday, January 20, 2022

2022 Theatre Kingston Storefront Fringe Lottery is now OPEN!

Deadline to apply is 6pm Fri Feb 18th!

What is a Fringe Festival Anyway?

Fringe festivals are all about providing an accessible avenue for independent theatre artists to produce and perform their work in front of an audience.

The Fringe is really the essence of theatre; anybody can submit a show to the Fringe!

We place no limits on content so shows can be bold, raw, uncensored, funny, light and silly.

Anything!

As long as they are under 60 mins AND legal.

THE UNIQUE RULES OF FRINGE

1. THEATRE COMPANIES IN THE FRINGE GET PICKED BY LOTTERY! (LIKE THE 649! Only your chances are better but it won't make you rich) This year our lottery ticket is $25 +hst = $28.25

with 12 chances to win!

2. THEATRE COMPANIES DECIDE ON THE CONTENT AND THE SHOW CAN BE WHATEVER THEY WANT IT TO BE (given the laws of the land)

3. IF chosen for the TK FRINGE and you accept, you pay a production fee of $325 +hst = $367.25 to which supplies you with:

• A Theatre Tech to run your lights and sound

• A Venue and 8 scheduled performances of your under 60min show

• Festival Marketing that promotes festival shows with what you supply them: Poster, Image, Content

• Box Office ( of which you get 100% of the stated Ticket price) You will not be getting box office fees which maybe associated with the Box Office . For example this year the Ticket price will be $12 per regular ticket, so what the audience will pay will be $12 +Box Office Fee + Tax = $Some number. You will be getting the $12 per ticket and the rest will go to Box Office. We will establish what those fees will be when we figure out what our venue will be and the fees associated with that choice. There will be discounted tickets that are agreed upon, for FRINGE PASSES etc but the companies will get the Base Ticket Price of those tickets to be determined when we have decided on venues.
