Toronto: The Village Players reschedule their plays in 2022

Thursday, January 13, 2022

As you have probably heard, theatres in Ontario will be closed until 27th January 2022, and there is no guarantee that this date will not be extended if the numbers for COVID should continue to rise. This most recent government action, as part of the strategy to control the COVID situation, was almost inevitable.
You may remember that we had planned a mini-season for the first 5 months of 2022. The first play, The Impossibility of Now (such an appropriate title!) was due to open on 21st January.

Although we are (understandably?) a little nervous about making firm plans, we have decided that our mini-season will now run as follows:

The Impossibility of Now: March 11 – April 2, 2022.

The 39 Steps: April 29 – May 21, 2022.

Gloria's Guy: June or July, 2022.

We know that these changes will be a big disappointment for you, as we were all looking forward to the return of live theatre. We thank you for your continuing support, especially if you have donated to our fundraising programme, and/or have already purchased tickets. We will be refunding the tickets for the January dates of The Impossibility of Now in the near future. If you have only made a reservation by phone, we ask you to rebook.

As ever, our prime concerns are the health and safety of our patrons, our members and the cast and crew of our shows. We work hard to create a safe space whilst ensuring that we follow government guidelines — and not just to the minimum.

We will be offering some Pay What You Choose performances on Zoom in the near future. Please watch for that information, and the updates we will send you as the situation develops. We don’t want to inundate you with emails, but we do want you to know what we are doing and why. There is always a fine line between too little and too much information!

Live theatre will resume. We adapt, we survive, we succeed!
