Blyth: Cottagers and Indians held over by popular demand

Friday, August 5, 2022

Gil Garratt announced today that the Blyth Festival will add three performances of the hit show Cottagers and Indians by Drew Hayden Taylor.

“Audience are loving this show…the play is hilarious, the performers are amazing, the set is breathtaking, (featuring original artwork by Anishinabek artist Moses Lunham from Kettle and Stony Point). It’s just such a great night out. Ticket sales have been incredibly strong for this production, selling out night after night, so we are really pleased that we be able to add three more opportunities for people to come out to experience this show on the Harvest Stage.”

Cottagers and Indians, written by Drew Hayden Taylor and directed by Deneh’Cho Thompson features festival alumni Kelly McIntosh as Maureen Poole and James Dallas Smith as Arthur Copper, with production design by Beth Kates and Moses Lunham. It previewed on July 21 and was to close August 6, but is now extended to August 11th.

The critics say:

“the play stands out as a great comedy and a great primer to the real-life issue that inspired it..”

 Denny Scott, The Citizen

“plenty of humour and also a message for the audience to ponder”

 Mary Alderson, Entertain this Thought

New dates for this production are now August 9, 10, 11 at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased on-line at blythfestival.com or by calling the Box office at 1-877-862-5984.
