Ottawa: New Opera Lyra’s inaugural season features “Dracula” and “Gianni Schicchi”

Thursday, September 22, 2022

It has been a few years since you attended Frankenstein - the Opera. Much has changed in the music world since then, and we are now pleased to announce the world premiere of Andrew Ager's Dracula, the second opera in "The Gothic Trilogy".

Dracula is being presented by New Opera Lyra, Ottawa's newest producer of the operatic arts. New Opera Lyra's inaugural season also includes Pictures and Dances - An Evening of Mussorgsky, and Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.

Dracula, fully staged and with chamber orchestra, premieres October 28 & 29, 730pm, in the beautiful and atmospheric St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 82 Kent St., Ottawa.

We are particularly delighted to welcome Benjamin Spierman of Bronx Opera as Director. We are also thrilled to have Ottawa's Matthew Larkin as Conductor in Residence of New Opera Lyra.

As co-artistic Directors we are excited to bring a rich and diverse season of the operatic arts to the nation's capital. - Suzanne Bassett and Andrew Ager, Co-Artistic Directors
