Coming to YOUR Theatre starting in preview performances + Opening Night NEXT WEEK, Beneath Springhill is exactly what you might need this winter to warm your heart and mind.
Beneath Springhill: The Maurice Ruddick Story
Based on the Arts Club Theatre Company (Vancouver) production
Created by Beau Dixon
Music & lyrics by Rob Fortin & Susan Newman
Originally directed & developed by Linda Kash
Directed by Bobby Garcia
Starring Jeremiah Sparks
‘Beneath Springhill is the incredible story of Maurice Ruddick, “the singing miner,” an African-Canadian who survived nine days underground during the historic Springhill mining disaster of 1958. The play is a celebration of hope, courage, and community.'
This one-man show tells the harrowing tale of the Springhill miners of Nova Scotia, who overcame a deathly situation - to live to tell the story of their survival. Starring as Maurice, Jeremiah Sparks comes to reprise this role at Theatre Orangeville and grace our stage and community to share this story.
We are so excited to be back in the theatre and as always, the safety of our patrons, artists and staff is our priority. Please Note: as such, we are continuing with mandatory masking at all times while in the Opera House and seated during performances.
Our Ice-Cream SUNDAE performances always book up quickly - don't miss out!
Also - Don't miss the opportunity to join us Opening Night (February 10th) for some refreshments & drinks after the show (generously donated by Black Birch, Hockley Valley Brewing Co & Pommies Cider) - AND YOU CAN MEET THE CAST! All included in the price of your ticket.
