Toronto: Théâtre français de Toronto presents its first site-specific show “Le Concierge” March 8-26

Thursday, February 16, 2023

Vincent Leblanc-Beaudoin, in association with the Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT) and Dopolavoro Teatrale presents LE CONCIERGE (The Caretaker): an immersive, wordless play, performed by Vincent Leblanc-Beaudoin, and presented 'In Situ', at École secondaire catholique Saint-Frère André, from March 8 to 26, 2023

The theatrical experience: The audience (comprised of only 15 people) is invited to a school, late at night, or on a weekend, when the now empty corridors are eerily silent. At the end of one of them, a man in uniform appears. He is the caretaker. The audience is invited to follow him and witness his nightly routine as he makes his rounds through the classrooms and the basement of the school. Progressively, he will reveal his vices and virtues, his obsessions, his dreams and his nightmares.

How do we behave when no one is looking? What are the benefits of solitude? What are the toxic effects of loneliness? Le Concierge (The Caretaker) is an immersive, multi-sensory journey that tells the story of a blue-collar worker in search of human contact. This creation, directed by Daniele Bartolini, paints a touching portrait of a solitary character whose work is too often taken for granted.
