We have some additional details regarding the highly anticipated Radio Noir Show at Ravine. We will be presenting the title "The Return of the Thin Man." Step back in time on Monday April 17th for classic Radio Noir, featuring Shaw Festival favourites Peter Millard and Gabrielle Jones as the inimitable Nick and Nora, plus an entire cast of colourful, jaunty characters, with Allan Teichman on Foley sound effects, and of course much murder mayhem!

This is the one and only time Radio Noir will be presenting at Ravine Vineyard in 2023.

The Return of the Thin Man is a classic ‘murder, mystery, and mayhem’ show. This show will take you back to the ‘Golden Age of Radio”, when families gathered around their radio sets to listen to the news of the day and hear their favourite entertainers in adaptations of movies, novels, and plays.

Dashiell Hammett only ever wrote one novel about Nick and Nora Charles, the wealthy hubby-and-wife detectives. But that didn't stop Hollywood from producing a string of Nick-and-Nora mysteries that began in 1934 and were still happening in 2009. Today’s Radio Noir is an adaptation of the original After the Thin Man, first broadcast in 1940, where Nick and Nora Charles are once again on the trail of a murder. This is the sequel to the initial Thin Man story made famous by William Powell and Myrna Loy.

Nick and Nora’s champagne humour, smart repartee, and delicious romantic playfulness, made the Thin Man series hugely popular with audiences. And don’t forget Asta, their equally mischievous and crime-solving dog. There was no one quite like Powell and Loy gracing Hollywood screens at the time. They made fourteen films together, six of which belong to the Thin Man series.
