Toronto: The Bloor West Village Players announce their 50th season

Sunday, April 23, 2023

Our most recent fundraising campaign closed at the end of February 2023. The generous contributions from our donors totalled over $11,000.

During the 2022-2023 season we have done our best to make everyone feel comfortable about returning to the theatre by reducing the number of seats we sell for almost half of all performances. And as we all know, everything has increased in price over these last few years, so your help and support have been invaluable — dare we even say, the key to our survival.

Yes, we survived all the recent ‘slings and arrows’ and are thrilled to be embarking on our landmark 50th season! The 2023-2024 season will mark 50 years of our company providing quality theatre in our community.

As you are our special friends, we are pleased to share a preview of that season with you — plays that we think will intrigue and delight you.

The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, Sept. 8 – 30, 2023

A Sting in the Tail by Brian Clemens & Dennis Spooner, Nov. 3 – 25, 2023

Social Security by Andrew Bergman, Jan. 12 – Feb. 3, 2024

Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison, March 1 – 23, 2024

The Book of Will by Lauren Gunderson, April 26 – May 18, 2024

We have a varied and exciting season which reflects the excitement we feel at having (nearly) attained the landmark of being 50! Almost giddy with that excitement, we feel we are ready for our close-up!

Details will be available online and in our brochure, during the run of Mending Fences, the last play of the 2022-2023 season. You will be able to buy your subscriptions from April 28, 2023.

For the 2023-2024 season, masks will be optional for most performances, but will still be required for a few dates. We will also continue to have some performances where we sell only 50% of the seats in the theatre. We do it all for you, and we listen to what you tell us. Our goal has always been to both entertain you and keep you safe.

Once again, thank you for your donations, for all your years of support, and for all the affection that you show “The Village.” Sometimes being a community institution is a good thing!

We hope to see you at Mending Fences, which runs from April 28 – May 20, 2023, and we wish you a good summer. We look forward to seeing you at the 2023-2024 season. Look out for special 50th anniversary announcements and events!

Ever onward to the next half century,

– Anne Harper, for the Village Players Board
