Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen's opens Off-Broadway tonight at New World Stages for a limited 18-week run will continue through January 7, 2024.

The five-person company includes Jordan Boatman (Medea), Arnie Burton (The 39 Steps), James Daly (Letterkenny), Ellen Harvey (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies).

Described as "lightning fast," the work reimagines Bram Stoker's classic vampire tale, recasting Dracula as a pansexual Gen-Z Count in the midst of an existential crisis.

Greenberg is directing the Off-Broadway production after staging earlier runs at Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Florida, Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany and Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal. The farce also became a podcast radio play in May 2020, with a cast including Christopher Sieber, Laura Benanti and John Stamos.

The play stars award-winning Canadian actor James Daly as Dracula. Daly was a member of the Shaw Festival from 2015 -22. Recent theatre credits include: Damn Yankees, Grand Hotel, Oh! What A Lovely War (The Shaw Festival), Mythic (The Segal Centre), Cabaret (Grand Theatre, London), Master Harold... and the Boys (The Shaw Festival/Obsidian Theatre). On-camera credits include: Crave's hit comedy series "Letterkenny," Netflix’s "Workin’ Moms," and CBC’s "Frankie Drake." He is a proud graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.

The NYC premiere is not a replica of earlier stagings. The production features scenic design by Tijana Bjelajac, costume design by Tristan Raines, lighting design by Rob Denton, sound design by Victoria Deiorio and wig and hair design by Ashley Rae Callahan. Morgan Holbrook is the production stage manager and casting is by JZ Casting.

Drew & Dane Productions is producing the Off-Broadway bow, with Dori Berinstein serving as executive producer.
