Tickets for A Year with Frog and Toad and for two shows from the WeeFestival are now on sale.

A Year With Frog & Toad

Music by Robert Reale

Book and Lyrics by Willie Reale

Directed by Fiona Sauder

The beloved book series comes to life on stage—and it’s fun for the whole family!

Based on Arnold Lobel's beloved books, this whimsical show chronicles the story of two friends—the very chipper Frog and the rather grumpy Toad—through four fun-filled seasons. Alongside the other animals of the forest, they plant gardens, go swimming, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. It’s a show for both the young and the young at heart!

Part vaudeville, part make-believe, and all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

The Capitol Theatre in Partnership with WeeFestival of Arts and Culture presents

March 8 & 9

The Capitol Theatre is pleased to present a special weekend of live performances created especially for early childhood presented in partnership with the acclaimed

WeeFestival of Arts and Culture for Early Years.

The programme features Lost and Found, a playful and interactive music, storytelling, and puppetry performance and Quest for the Moon, a sensory-rich shadow theatre performance about a very special friendship between a fox and the moon.

Both performances are approximately 40 minutes and offer relaxed formats including "stay and play" endings and extended arts activities for children and families to play and create inspired by the shows.

Quest for the Moon

A WeeFestival Production

Created by Olivia Wheeler

Duration 40 minutes

Recommended for children 2 years +

Quest for the Moon is a heartwarming and engaging story about the friendship between a young fox and the Moon told with the magic of shadow puppetry, music, and theatre in a sensory-rich and intimate setting.

Cautious and fearful of venturing far from his home in the woods, the fox is happy to bask in the moon’s stories about far off places that she has seen on her path across the sky. One night, the Moon goes missing so the fox must summon the courage to go in search of his friend. Along the way he discovers a newfound independence and the wonder of the world beyond his den.

Lost & Found

A WeeFestival Production

Created by Snack Music Collective

Duration: 40 minutes

Recommended for children 3 years +

Three artists spin stories inspired by items they discover in the lost and found box. A children’s mitten becomes a fish, a woolly wrap becomes the mouth of a whale, a winter hat becomes a hungry beaver, and a flowing scarf becomes a mischievous grandmother who loves stories and urges the performers on!

Lost & Found is a participatory performance created especially for kindergarten students that uses live music, found object puppetry and inventive storytelling to inspire and delight students and their educators. Following the performance, the artists of the show facilitate classroom workshops where students are invited to create and puppeteer their own stories using found objects.
