Coming up in Toronto in January from TIFT:
For Both Resting and Breeding
Staged inside a home in Parkdale (164 Cowan Avenue), For Both Resting and Breeding (January 15-31, 2025), by Adam Meisner, is set in the year 2150. Humans have become gender-neutral and use the pronoun 'Ish' to identify themselves. Two historians want to transform an old residence into a living museum commemorating Millennials for the upcoming sesquicentennial. As the museum is being created, members of the group become too enamoured with their gendered counterparts and eventually start to re-enact the “dangerous" behaviours of their ancestors. The play features Maja Ardal, Amy Keating, Richard Lam, Jamie McRoberts, and Alexander Thomas; Ardal directs, with the original set design by Joe Pagnan and costumes by Laura Delchiaro. A huge thanks Robert Sirman and Denis Lefebvre for generously providing their beautiful residence for the run!
Cock
After a sold out run in Barrie earlier this year, we will transfer Mike Bartlett's Cock (January 19-31, 2025) to a studio inside the Carlaw Industrial Centre (388 Carlaw Avenue, Unit 295). The hit comedy is about John, a gay man, who has been in a relationship with his partner for seven years. But when he meets and falls in love with a woman, he is forced to contemplate the boundaries of his identity and decide what he really wants for his future. Jakob Ehman, Michael Torontow, Tess Benger and Kevin Bundy reprise their roles in this hilarious and touching look at the difficulties that pop up when you have a choice. Dylan Trowbridge also returns to direct; the production is designed by Kathleen Black.

Perfect On Paper
Our first production in Barrie of the new year is Perfect On Paper by celebrated Canadian playwright Marcia Johnson, whose acclaimed Serving Elizabeth recently played at the Stratford Festival. Olivia is an independent black woman. She proudly identifies as a feminist. Her deep dark secret is that she writes bodice-ripping romance novels under a pseudonym. When her life is saved by a handsome young white man who dotes on her, he seems too good to be true. Is he just perfect on paper? The play stars Helen Belay (White Taffeta Silk, Or Don't Do it Bestie!), Sydney Cochrane (Into The Woods), Arlene Duncan (The Music Man), Griffin Hewitt (Into The Woods), and TIFT newcomer Savion Roach. Vanessa Sears will direct, with choreography by Dave Ball. The production is stage managed by Grace Batten, assisted by Kelsey Jensen.
This is a site-specific production and space is limited, so get your tickets today!
