Toronto: Bowtie Productions presents the musical “Falsettos” April 19-27

Tuesday, March 12, 2024

Artistic Director Meredith Shedden and Executive Director Ian Kowalski are thrilled to welcome Toronto audiences to their spring theatrical offering, Falsettos, April 19-27, 2024. Following their sold out 2023 production of Fun Home, they kick off their 2024 season with the Tony and Drama Desk Award-Winning musical about a non-traditional family amidst a time of astonishing change.

A seamless pairing of March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, two acclaimed Off-Broadway musicals written nearly a decade apart, the story is set against the backdrop of the sexual-revolution and the emergence of AIDS. Falsettos tells the story of Marvin, a married father who—in 1979—leaves his wife and son for another man.

The intimate 7 person cast includes rising stars from the Toronto theatre industry, accompanied by emerging talent on the production team. Stars include Taylor Long as Marvin, Randy (Lei) Chang as Whizzer, Olivia Daniels as Trina, Joshua Kilimnik as Mendel, Luca McPhee as Charlotte, Mona Hillis as Cordelia and 10 year old Max Goodman as Jason.

The production will be shown at The Annex Theatre (736 Bathurst St.) in April, marking the first time the musical has been staged in Toronto in over a decade. The cast is led by director Meredith Shedden and the score is helmed by Ethan Rotenberg, music director and piano/conductor in the live orchestra.
