It is finally time for Shakespeare in Action to reveal our new name!

Please welcome: Crossroads Theatre!

Shakespeare in Action was formed over 30 years ago with a vision of providing exposure of Shakespeare’s works to youth in Toronto. For decades, Shakespeare in Action introduced plays and the playwriting craft to young generations through its school-based programs, multi-year Toronto Library programs, and recurring workshops aimed at making classic theatre accessible and exciting. In 2019, Shakespeare in Action found a permanent home in the Weston neighbourhood of Toronto. We have spent the years since reevaluating our mandate and reimagining our brand to better reflect this company's current focus and direction. As part of this process, we surveyed our community, and held a community meeting in which our neighbours could suggest new names for us. We are so proud that our new name came out of that community meeting! 

This company will always stay true to its core purpose: bringing theatre to our community. With our new direction, we are free to broaden our view beyond Shakespeare to include universal human stories originating from many different cultures and histories. Going forward, Crossroads Theatre will continue to offer professional stage plays and theatre education for youth, along with many new and improved programs!
