Toronto: Crossroads Theatre announces its 2024 season

Thursday, May 2, 2024

Crossroads Theatre (formerly Shakespeare in Action) is very excited to announce our 2024 season! This season will include a slate of shows in Little Avenue Memorial Park, along with a touring school show this fall.

This year, Crossroads Theatre will present three separate offerings in Little Avenue Memorial Park. We have partnered with Theatre Direct, Weston Silver Band and Clay and Paper Theatre to stage a variety of family-friendly offerings across several weekends between July and August.

Crossroads Theatre presents Finding Home: A Salmon Journey Upstream, a Theatre Direct production created by Animacy Theatre Collective. Finding Home is created and performed by Alexandra Simpson and Morgan Brie Johnson. This show will have four performances in Little Avenue Memorial Park, on July 13 and 14, at 2pm and 7pm each day.

Weston Silver Band will join us in Little Avenue Memorial Park on July 25 at 7pm and August 4 at 2pm. Enjoy a concert celebrating over 100 years of Weston history!

Crossroads Theatre presents Art Ambulance, a Clay and Paper Theatre production. Art Ambulance will have three performances in Little Avenue Memorial Park, on August 23 and 24 at 7pm, and August 25 at 2pm.

Art Ambulance is an all ages, mini variety show – a pop up theatre to the rescue, or, “good medicine for hard times.” Art Ambulance is a street theatre and commedia dell’arte inspired show, made up of a series of short, sharp sketches that include table-top bunraku style puppetry, backpack and giant puppet images, mask, spectacle and live music. Abounding with plenty of satirical twists, Art Ambulance challenges the hoaxes, quackery and bad medicine (socially and politically) that abound in our modern lives.

We are also excited to announce that we will tour a show to GTA schools this fall!

Crossroads Theatre has partnered with Colouring Book Theatre to produce The Assembly, created and performed by Deivan Steele and Breanne Tice, and directed by Cameron Grant. This interactive TYA show will tour to schools November 25 through December 7.

THE ASSEMBLY is a fun, interactive theatrical experience in which young audience members join an Assembly and take collective charge of their community’s governance. Audiences battle against impending collapse, and weigh the needs of their community with the prosperity and rights of future generations.
