Hamilton: Performances of “The Nine Lives of Ross Fordham” begin January 10
Thursday, January 9, 2025
Performances of THE NINE LIVES OF ROSS FORDHAM at Theatre Aquarius begin January 10.
“Not only is actor-singer-songwriter Brandon McGibbon telling a fascinating tale of the way his grandfather, Ross Fordham, cheated death nine times, he’s also co-opted his brother Jason and Fordham’s great grandchildren Liam and TJ, award-winning actors and musicians, to help tell the tale.
‘It’s the true story of how my grandfather survived some death-defying experiences during his 95 years,” says McGibbon. “It’s pretty much told through songs we’ve written and it’s rather personal and compelling stuff.’
“McGibbon, who appeared as George in the Tom Wilson-Shaun Smyth musical Beautiful Scars at Theatre Aquarius, as well as The Extinction Therapist and the Johnny Cash musical Ring of Fire, is talking about how this family story is finding its way to the stage.
‘Two summers ago, I took the idea for this show to Theatre Aquarius’s Brave New Works program. It was developed there and it’s about to have a run this January in the company’s Studio Theatre space.
‘It’s such a neat space for intimate stories,” McGibbon says. “And it’s not used enough. I’m thrilled that it’s finding its way back to life with my grandfather’s story. I think it will be a great fit.’” by Gary Smith for www.thespec.com.
