St. Catharines: The Foster Festival’s Fostered Playwrights Festival takes place March 21-23
Thursday, January 9, 2025
Buoyed by the success of the 2024 Festival, the second annual Fostered Playwrights Festival is set for March 21 - 23 at the Firehall Theatre in Niagara Falls. Accessible parking is available.
Three selections from emerging or established Canadian playwrights, will be professionally performed and directed in public readings over a weekend. The scripts to be featured are Sew Far, Sew Good by Marnie Walsh, Packing Up by Alison Lawrence, and Every Little Thing by The Foster Festival’s Artistic Director Emily Oriold.
In 2023, an astounding 72 submissions were received from across the country. Ultimately, Time & Tide by Jody Stevens McCluskey, received its world premiere production at the Mandeville Theatre in October 2024. Mechanically Inclined by Steve Ross, which was a favourite amongst Festival attendees, has been further developed, and will receive its world premiere in August 2025.

This is a unique chance to be a part of the early stages of a play's development. Early readings allow the playwright to gather audience reactions and feedback, which are crucial for revising the play before its production. Your participation is vital to the creative process.
