Toronto: Théâtre français de Toronto presents “Le Problème avec la rose” January 18
Wednesday, January 8, 2025
Le Problème avec le Rose is a playful yet profound exploration of notions of gender and identity through the eyes of childhood, by Érika Tremblay-Roy and Christophe Garcia.
Aimed at family audiences aged 6 and over, this show, winner of the 2020 Louise-Lahaye Award, blends dance and theatre in a setting that is both humorous and absurd. The story comes to life when the characters, Alix, Sasha, Lou and Noa, are confronted with the statement that “pink is for girls”, and embark on a shocking quest for identity.
Between childish games and deep questioning, Le Problème avec le Rose challenges gender stereotypes and invites us to reflect on diversity and tolerance. With a staging that cleverly integrates words, movement and visual innovations, this show offers a unique opportunity to discuss the importance of remaining oneself and celebrating differences, in a world where labels are losing their relevance.
