Gananoque: Thousand Islands Playhouse announces its 2026 season
Thursday, October 16, 2025
"Our new Season is fresh, a little mischievous, and full of life. The 2025 lineup set the bar high, and we’re determined to keep raising it. Our productions are growing in scale and ambition, we are investing in our community, and strengthening our roots here at the Playhouse.
I couldn’t be prouder of what’s ahead - electrifying musicals, cheeky storytelling, heartfelt Canadian tales, and something entirely new for us: marionettes!
This Season is an invitation to lean in, laugh loud, and see the world a little differently. The 2026 Season lineup is below, and our Subscription Packages and Patron Memberships are now open!
There’s nothing quite like being in a theatre full of people, and I hope you’ll join us for the journey”. - Brett Christopher, Managing Artistic Director, Thousand Islands Playhouse
The 2026 season:
Women of the Fur Trade
by Frances Koncan
Firehall Theatre
May 1 - 24, 2026
Three women sit trapped together in a frontier fort: a Métis dreamer scribbling flirtatious letters to Louis Riel, a savvy Ojibwe trapper skeptical of rebellion, and a British settler worried about her absent husband. As they sip tea, banter, and weigh the fate of a budding resistance, they twist history into something fresh, fierce, and funny. This is satire with teeth. Women of the Fur Trade reminds us that the women at the edges of history were never bystanders.
Sugar Road

Years ago, she shared a single, unforgettable night there with Jesse Emberley before fame carried him away. Now Jesse returns, headlining the Spurs and Hearts Music Festival at the park, and the past comes rushing back. Sugar Road is a heartfelt story about the one that got away, and the sweet surprises life delivers when you least expect them.

Come From Away
Book, Music & Lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein
Directed and Choreographed by Stephanie Graham
Springer Theatre
Sep 22 - Nov 1, 2026
38 planes. 7,000 passengers. One small town. Come From Away is based on the remarkable real-life events following 9/11, when thousands of travellers were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland. As fear gripped the world, the people of Gander opened their arms. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness became trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into lasting friendships. This Tony Award-winning musical is a celebration of small-town kindness and the power of everyday people.
