The North American debut of this dramatic play written by critically acclaimed playwright debbie tucker green and directed by Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu, runs in the Mainspace from November 11 - December 7, 2025, opening November 19.

Divided into three duologues that provide a glimpse into the journeys of three couples, …profoundly… reveals an intense, moving piece about the unsettling emotions that love and intimacy evoke. …profoundly… debuts in North America with a new Canadian cast delivering tucker green’s signature rhythmic and poetic prose.

“It's been a long time coming to finally partner with the incredible Obsidian Theatre and welcome back the visionary Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu to Tarragon on this resonant masterwork of text,” notes Tarragon Artistic Director Mike Payette. He continues, “debbie tucker green’s unique blend of poetry and prose vibrates off the page in this raw, visceral and deeply resonant triptych of love; delighting in the complexities that surround its meaning when relationships sit on the edge between forever and the unknown,”

Obsidian’s Artistic Director, Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu shares, “Obsidian is thrilled to be bringing …profoundly… to the stage on several levels. This marks the first time that Obsidian is partnering on a show with Tarragon Theatre. This co-production also marks the third time Obsidian has presented a piece by debbie tucker green, following the presentations of dirty butterfly in our 2013/14 season, and hang in our 2017/18 season. green’s style and prose always challenges our audiences and leaves them with thoughts to ponder - so we’re excited to be collaborating to bring …profoundly… to life on the Tarragon stage.”

Three couples.

What might be.

What once was.

What could have been.

…profoundly… is a bold and unflinching exploration of love, desire, and human connection. Intimate, raw, and deeply moving, where hope meets vulnerability, and longing becomes language of its own. A must-see experience for those that believe ‘love’ is more than just a word – it’s an act, a feeling, a surrender.

With laughter through tears and the chasms between them, this triptych beautifully weaves the journeys of three couples seeking connection against all the elements that separate them. After the critically-acclaimed World Premiere at UK’s Royal Court, Tarragon and Obsidian come together in bringing a brand new production to Canada, marking its North American debut.
