Theatre Aezir presents London Drafts: A Play Reading Series
Join us for three consecutive weeks this June for London Drafts, a series of staged readings celebrating local plays and emerging talent.
London Drafts showcases fresh work from London-based playwrights, uplifting new voices and stories. This series also serves as a fundraiser in support of our upcoming summer production: That Summer by David French — a free outdoor event running July 16–26 at the Guy Lombardo Pavilion in London, ON.
Come be part of the development of new theatre and help us bring exceptional stories to life!
Week 1 – Sunday, June 1: Mrs. Kray by Christen Shepherd
Set in London’s East End during the 1960s, Mrs. Kray explores the infamous Kray twins’ rise and fall through the eyes of their devoted mother, Violet. Beyond the glamour and crime, this story reveals a deeper narrative of mental health, poverty, and the fierce loyalty of women.
Week 2, Sunday, June 8th: A Fork in the Road by Jan Sims
A young couple from the big city arrive at a Midwestern Ontario country inn, expecting a romantic weekend away from the hustle and bustle. They are welcomed by their particularly strange hosts... an older couple, with a specific appetite. When they go into the woods that day, they're in for a big surprise! Cannibalism, retirement, and true love intersect in this dark comedy.
Week 3 – Sunday, June 15: Geez, Louise! by Shelley Lapkowski
In a lively suburban condo complex, Louise’s quiet life is upended when flashy, headstrong Amber moves in next door. Sparks fly, gossip spreads, and grudges grow—until a twist of fate unites them against a common foe. A sharp, fast-paced comedy about unexpected friendship and finding connection in chaos.
About the venue: This is an unconventional, improved theatre space, with a bar and kitchen. Please feel free to arrive at anytime before the show for drinks and dinner or stay post-show!
Accessibility: There is an elevator available. For access, please call Poacher's Arms directly. (519) 432-7888

Join us in July for That Summer, a memorable evening of outdoor theatre. Eight performances at 8:00 PM on July 16, 17, 18, 19, and 23, 24, 26, and 27.
Step into the sunlit haze of 1950s Ontario cottage country with That Summer, a beautifully crafted drama by David French. Narrated by Margaret Ryan in 1990, it recalls a pivotal summer of first love and loss, seen through Margaret and her lively sister Daisy. This heartfelt play captures nostalgia and fleeting moments, blending humor, warmth, and reflection. Praised as “a lyrical and beautifully constructed meditation on the passage of time,” That Summer resonates with anyone cherishing memories of a life-changing summer.
We were inspired, by the frequent references to a dance pavilion, to present That Summer outdoors. We partnered with the City of London to bring the production to the beloved former Wonderland Gardens, now the Guy Lombardo Pavilion in Springbank Gardens.
