Tuesday, May 13, 2025
Frat Haus: Evicted will take over Buddies in Bad Times Theatre from July 2 to July 12, blending drag and theatre in a raucous and thought-provoking exploration of Toronto’s housing crisis. Wrapped together in a comedic yet poignant critique of renter struggles, queer culture, and toxic masculinity, this groundbreaking 10-day cabaret event will feature a dynamic lineup of drag performances, theatrical storytelling, and digital artistry..
Presented by a performance collective that first came together as competition contestants at Absolute Empires, Frat Haus: Evicted marks the group’s premiere production collaborating with Apothecary Theater. The show will feature at least five core drag acts, two ensemble numbers, and a rotating roster of guest performers nightly, ensuring a fresh experience for every audience. Notable local talents include Devery Bess, Coyote Ugly, Andy Fetamean, Stefan Fetamean, and Archie Called, with additional special guests to be announced.
“We want people to have an incredible time. laughing, drinking, and enjoying the spectacle. while also acknowledging the real struggles renters face in Toronto and beyond,” said Devery Bess, co-producer, co-writer and Performer of Frat Haus: Evicted. “It’s a high-energy, immersive cabaret experience that speaks to the LGBTQ+ community, theater lovers, and anyone who’s ever dealt with a bad landlord.”
The event will be 14+, with interactive audience elements such as performer engagements, drinking games, and surprise moments. In an effort to make the show accessible, one evening will feature a masked, COVID-conscious performance, as well as a low-sensory night. Merchandise and drinks will be available on-site, adding to the festival atmosphere.
